Mothers Day is approaching soon. I love my Mother, my Mother-in-law, my Grandmothers, and I love being a Mom too! I respect the role and admire the ‘great ones’. I strive to do a good job, but, being a mother can be exhausting. How can we maintain a positive attitude in the midst of the daily grind and occasional turmoil?

Proverbs 3:18

She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. (ESV)

Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly. (NLT)

She’s the very Tree of Life to those who embrace her. Hold her tight – and be blessed! (MSG)

This verse is actually talking about wisdom.

So, lets pretend your name is Wisdom.

Your role as a mom is to exemplify, instill, and teach wisdom to and for your kids. Your husband needs this from you as well.  It’s a big job and mostly a thankless one.

Consider each day as an investment that will pay off big time later. An investment takes time. It’s not something that can be rushed. Patience, forgiveness, compassion, and understanding are big factors here. Let your attention and attitude be joyful as you eagerly wait for that investment to unfold. It’s like being the giver of a gift (not the receiver) and you’re waiting for your child to open the beautifully wrapped present you’ve spent time and effort picking out for them. Oh, and it’s the BEST present they’ll ever get. Give with a joyful heart.

Don’t let Satan get you down with the mundane daily grind. Consider it ALL joy, my friend!

James 1:2-8 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

So, now that you’re pretending your name is Wisdom, what are you going to do?

* Be a tree of life!

* Bless others!

* Give unconditionally!

* Kick Satan to the curb & stay positive!

* Count your blessings & be thankful!

* Praise God - Give credit to the one who is YOUR Tree of Life!

Now, go call your mom, give her a big hug, and tell her how much you love her. Most importantly pray for them! This year, I’ll be praying for a few friends of mine that are dealing with infertility. Please join me and say a special prayer for them. Thank you and God bless you!
